"What's the failure rate ?", questioned someone from the audience, after an alumni's talk on Silicon Wafer Mfg. There ! that's a fine way to distinguish a bright, calculative engineer from an era-gera one. Such instances and questions are the differentiating factors between intelligents and ordinary. Their timing is simply exquisite.
That query meanwhile was thought provoking. Triggering a questionnaire inturn : What's our failure rate ? Do failures give you another oppurtunity ? Really ? Are those experiences worth a second shot ? What if you are failure addictive ? How do you cope with it ? Do you succumb, stare it in eye or continue to live with it ? Is failure the stepping stone to success indeed ? Does success ever see light ? Any formula to sustain success and avoid failures ? Why fail in the first place ?
More often than not, I fail. No, this is a genuine fact apart from a back-biting comment and a passersby notion. It's my habit. A monotonous parody; the same cup of coffee I sip. Standing two steps behind, it waits for an opportune moment to mock at my inadequacy. Beating me all ends up. A success which was once consistent, now seems a distant possibility. A Smile which was once comforting, has turned into an evident frustration in this walk of life.
The fall, big or small is an oppurtunity enough to reflect my short comings. But then, all I need is one confident start with a pinch of arrogance to reset myself and turn tables. It will be a different story altogether.
To fail occasionally is healthy in that it highlights the flaws in approach and attitude to be fine tuned. Success thereafter will only be sweeter. Failure fuels expectations. Like in case of our 'Men in Blue'. What makes them so popular in World Cricket ? Their success you thought ? Yeah, partly. But its their repeated failures which make people sit upright and hope. Wishing to see our tiranga fly high in glory.
A petite squirrel by the way, failed me today. He mocked at my imperfect photography skills. They improved after this pic , I assumed. If not for that cute fella's act, I would have continued in the same vein. No one has ridiculed me like he did, in recent past. "Another confused nut", he thought probably.
Lets hope this bit drives me to greater heights.
