Hey There Delila....
Hey there Delilah
What's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear it's true
Hey there Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice it's my disguise
I'm by your side
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me
Hey there Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good
Hey there Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame
Hey there Delilah
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Delilah here's to you
This ones for you
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me.
Oh oh
OOOoohhhh
Oh oh
Ooooooohhhhh
Oh Oh
OOOoohhhh
OOOOooohhhhh
Oh Oh

Punchin' the Air
Sunday, November 18, 2007
Back home, Pizzas were a rage when they were introduced a decade ago. They were a rarity in my case but had to keep abreast with the concept. Soon the toss was between a Pizza and Veggie Burger. A battle of minds. Close calls, but burgers had my vote. I was a hardcore pani puri freak; burgers second in my list. I remember one bakery on Shivam road(Baker's- Q if am not wrong, beside Syndicate Bank), had this tricky poster of a burger eating itself. The caption read: "You are what you eat". Thats it ! There ended my brief romance with B-Ps.
My crave for pizzas though, re-ignited after landing in US. First few weeks were spent ignoring the 9th Street- owing to unemployment and then-existing philosophy -- every penny be spent judiciously. I promised myself to visit Dominos after my first pay cheque. Lived upto it [:D]. First one I still remember, was a small thin-crust with jalapeños toppings. All for $4. Buying your first lunch with hard earned money will remain a moment imprinted in memory till you perish, I bet. First flashes of independence and all that.
Anyways, Pizzas ever since have become customary. A weekly ritual. If you were me, it would be mentally taxing to avoid them. Mid-terms and Sem-ends often saw VT, PK and myself freak out.( now GPS and Co. being my associates ( changed times fellas ! )).
My graduation from small thin-crusts to medium thick-crusts still remains a rattling fact. A reason behind my (reportedly) gargantuan appearance. There is a whole desi angle too ! Like skipping tips, ordering garlic sauces after payment, etc. Stupid, silly gimmicks being the highlights of this monotonic affair.
'Yahaan besharmi ki koi hadh nahin hoti !
Personally I like Dominos. Shakespeare's, Papa John's and Cici's follow in order. Cici's being an optimal solution to my hunger spasms. Pizza Hut isn't exciting. Wise Guy's isn't worth a mention. Recently visited Gumby's. Quite tasty I must say. Dominos standing at a fore long distance from my dept. has been our 'Saviour' on numerous occasions. Hence this emotional bonding. Prices quite reasonable and prep time right on dot I must underline.
Pizzas are a way of life here. Burritos, noddles etc. being second next. Do no good though, except padding you with fat and hiking the calorie count. Needless to mention, burning them is another uphill task. Sedentary lifestyles add to these woes. My pot belly with surrounding two tyres are adequate proofs of these after effects.
For good, I keep promising myself and taking oaths in public to stop binging on them. It's tough man! avoiding the Pizza-Mazza.
Before I take leave, on a quick note ...Am seriously contemplating the idea of quitting Pizzas !
Bold statement !! Makes for a good new year resolution...eh ? ;)

That query meanwhile was thought provoking. Triggering a questionnaire inturn : What's our failure rate ? Do failures give you another oppurtunity ? Really ? Are those experiences worth a second shot ? What if you are failure addictive ? How do you cope with it ? Do you succumb, stare it in eye or continue to live with it ? Is failure the stepping stone to success indeed ? Does success ever see light ? Any formula to sustain success and avoid failures ? Why fail in the first place ?
More often than not, I fail. No, this is a genuine fact apart from a back-biting comment and a passersby notion. It's my habit. A monotonous parody; the same cup of coffee I sip. Standing two steps behind, it waits for an opportune moment to mock at my inadequacy. Beating me all ends up. A success which was once consistent, now seems a distant possibility. A Smile which was once comforting, has turned into an evident frustration in this walk of life.
The fall, big or small is an oppurtunity enough to reflect my short comings. But then, all I need is one confident start with a pinch of arrogance to reset myself and turn tables. It will be a different story altogether.
To fail occasionally is healthy in that it highlights the flaws in approach and attitude to be fine tuned. Success thereafter will only be sweeter. Failure fuels expectations. Like in case of our 'Men in Blue'. What makes them so popular in World Cricket ? Their success you thought ? Yeah, partly. But its their repeated failures which make people sit upright and hope. Wishing to see our tiranga fly high in glory.
A petite squirrel by the way, failed me today. He mocked at my imperfect photography skills. They improved after this pic , I assumed. If not for that cute fella's act, I would have continued in the same vein. No one has ridiculed me like he did, in recent past. "Another confused nut", he thought probably.
Lets hope this bit drives me to greater heights.

My Mfg Design HW awaits to be completed. Am drowsy. Raring to crash into slumber. Even a pinch less I believe, will bring serious disrepute to my bulging waist line and dent my appearance. Yes ! close to two months off from the farms already, thats how I kept busy apparently.
that stupid bug by the way, ...is bothering me too much. Trespassing and breaching my privacy. Sniffing at about anything and everything. Unruffled, he glares me in the eye ! Huhhh !! Intolerable !!! Grrr..grr...
Enough ! you ugly moron. You don't deserve my attention. Not even this mention [:X]. Another move and you will be spanked to death. I promise !
Update : At 2:00 A.M poor fella breathed his last.

Oppurtunity Lost ?
Academy Awards open doors for International film makers to showcase their work. A window of oppurtunity for the int'l sector to peek into other's diversity and sensibilities. Indians have chipped in with nominations ranging from mindless to decent in the recent past. Incompetent creations. While few were appreciable, most lacked any creative edge to out do others entries.
Black(2005) surprisingly didn't appeal to FFI. Rather a mindless subject like Paheli sneaked in. I was mighty confident in AB, Rani or S.L.Bhansali giving others a serious run for money. Atleast in one department. An oppurtunity lost !
This year has seen some out standing products. Good call ! Chak De is inspiring but unfit for Academies. Technically not impressive. Will laud its inspiring concept and performances.
Eklavya is beautiful, and has well conceived scenes. Art work and AB stand out. So does cinematography. But Chopra fails to cash in on his brigade of talented actors. They do a commendable job and an overall okaish product, slow narration and a sagging script dent its competence at top level, I felt. Lets hope it draws appreciation for AB atleast.
Haven't watched Dharam. Let's count on the talented Pankaj Kapoor.
Gandhi My Father which banks on stellar performances is my natural choice. Akshaye's act takes him several notches above his peers. Shefali is breath taking. Darshan Jariwala as Gandhi fails to pull off a Ben Kingsley, yet impresses. The Gandhi factor would have been enough for people to sit upright and take note of this masterpiece. This period film appeals aesthetically too, set up in pre-independence back drop, and fitting in its genre, it could have been a decent contender.
Another opportunity lost ? Well, no expectations. But why not put our best foot forward ?
" In the air...
Somewhere on the road side : A small crowd gathers near a kiosk.Glued to an ol' idiot box. Any ad at a gripping moment will be booed. Unperturbed attention and tense expressions address the situation. Every ball watched in anticipation, every stroke whistled in appreciation and an all too crucial wicket cheered. Pumping their adrenalin and making them delirious. More so, if we have beaten our arch rivals - Pakis. A win eventually makes people go berserk. Fire works follow. One-off or a tournament's crunch encounter, the reaction is same and deafening. Mood no less than festive !
Celebrations kick start. Welcome to India ! Home of Cricket.
Jump drive, (the next day).
Early morning walks witness grandpas and co. involved in animated analysis. Today's jog at the colony park will be longer. Their better halves will chip in too ! with a word or two.
Scenario at home: a father- son duo compete for the sports column. One wins, the other shrugs. All this, to get equipped on what is to follow. After all, they will be part of various forums, if not the nucleus of them, at some point in their offices/colleges/hangouts, today.
Conversations in public transports are the best of all. Who knows ? even a rickshaw wallah may be well-equipped today, to break ice and grab a distant oppurtunity of striking convo with his passenger. Post match analysis and all that. Such is the love and passion for the game here.
Loaded buses offer mind blowing GDs on favourite star's histrionics, team spirit, turning points, nail biting moments and edge-of-the seat stuff. Another typical setting: - our Uncleji is busy reading the daily. Caught in a bottle-neck, trapped, despo co-passengers attempt glancing at head lines. Falter. But don't give up. Neighbours restlessly await their turn. (They are the same under privileged, who lost the morning battle at the sports column and shrugged it off ). Ofcourse, the property is returned scrupulously after use. Forums here are a treat to be part of. Everyone puts forward their point, sounding like seasoned players who missed the bus to ' Final 11 '.
Cut.
Class rooms abuzz with student groups. Retreats no different either. Lunch sessions are spicier, with intense debates. Expect the journey back home to be of equal vigor. A visit to our pani puri bandi late in the evening and our Raju Bhayya is busy presenting his take on The Event. Till next dawn, the highlights are rewinded and replayed monotonously, a zillion times.
Believe me, its tough not being part of such engaging affairs. Especially after winning T20-WC. Anyways, I will sign off humming the Govinda number - "It happens only in India..."
Adios !

One lucky MA..
The realisation of what I've been losing all these years was depressing. But has also given me a platform of sorts, to regain my lost zeal. Another oppurtunity to resurrect myself. I hope to pull up my socks, fine tune my approach and channelize my energies to be more productive and creative.
God Bless !

Time Frame
For me to be eligible to dream, I need to untangle myself. A jack of many arts that I am, would do no good. A call has to be made. A strategy has to be chalked out and adhered to. Here I am, half way through my masters and yet unsure. Unsure of how the future will unfold. I can claim to be "open" wrt my job preferences, land in a consultancy or two and get started ( which I agree isn't a cakewalk either ) with a decent pay in a s/w co. or battle it out for a commendable ME post in an established firm. Speculations ! speculations !
On a serious note, I aspire to become a core ME. Any other stream will strongly discount all these years of professional studies as an ME. I can't afford to hand over things to fate. I simply cannot ! owing to my disinterest in s/w and all that. Let us see.
A rapid transformation ( in the phenomenal sense of it ) ought to be scripted, to succeed in the first place. Working more vigorously, with high intensities of concentration and passion will take me closer to my goal. The seeds of discipline have already been sowed. I have been trained to slog it out and in style, thanks to the VMS ( my intermediate college) cult I belonged to. Switching gears to get back to old ways to define new one's shouldn't be erratic, given the determination and energy levels to succeed and excel.
Loads of work awaits. Taking leave.
Adios !

On Enemy
Saturday, August 25, 2007
For the Govt. of A.P and the whole political set up which is busy devising strategies to denude each other, this is a punch in the face for a second time in a short period. Terming it a wakeup call would mean downplaying the whole incident. The enemy has cashed in on the negligence. That, a place right next to Secretariat was blown up is no less than poking fun standing right under our nose.
Barely hours after the mishap, instead of assurance of security and harmony, all these statesmen can do is involve in some mindless blame-game. Shame ! Rest of us will draw inspiration from the Mumbaikars who were challenged similarly an year ago and responded beautifully with their unity.

Impromptu
Amitabh Bachchan has won the national award in the best actor category for BLACK.... a masterpiece from the stables of S.L.Bhansali. This brilliantly directed film (with due credits to all actors and able technicians with thorough knowledge in film making), stands among other classics. An assured Oscar ride in 2006, was cut short on grounds of unoriginal script. This recognition at national level though, has pleased me to no ends :) :D
Secondly, one of the top 3 bowlers in the history of the game of Cricket, our Jumbo ( a.k.a Anil Kumble) has at last cracked a century at The Oval, England. After a brief glimpse of his histrionics with bat in the 1996 tour of South Africa , Titan Cup against Aussies and 17 non-stop seasons at top level with the ball, he finally battled it out. Like never before..like never again.
Day-2, 1o August 2007. The Oval, London. Scoreboard read :
Anil Kumble * 110 (193b, 217 mins, 4x 16, 6x1 )
I am impressed. Especially after the WC-07 debacle. Indians are on the brink of another historical series win. This performance underlines another facet of this match winner. Awesome timing too - coming at the death of his career. Truly deserving I say !! Truly ! I won't eat up more space.
Wanted to freeze these two milestones of individual brilliance, in my memory before they fade away.

I was embarassed when a request to pay for gas by my firangi dost sounded as a tax for all his favours( rides to my work place and all). From a mere request to pay for gas to ' you owe me five buks ' to ' you can pay for my lunch instead ', ....it just got worst. For quite sometime now, I wanted to buy him lunch and thought it would be befitting to do so on the last day at work ( few days from now). Even before I could propose, the manner in which my idea got disposed, left me little annoyed. No, I am not ignoring the favours as such. But it didn't have to end like this and leave me somewhat disappointed.
I am an emotional fool. But then high expectations too ! Nah? Every place is not India and everyone is not Indian to understand your situation and be gracious. ( Oh! Dear, it took you an year and a half to realise this ?? !!) I say this because, I started to doubt the basis on which I was hired for this job. All help that I am bestowed with, has some strange irony associated with it. Gratitude is often squashed and slapped on face. No second thoughts about it. Work was hectic in the field, under scorching temperatures. Evenings and week ends remained a distant dream ! Existence didn't count. Requests for days off or time for personal life were cleverly ignored and beaten with logic, if not by flat refusals, by my boss. Many a time, food and water seemed a distinct luxury. It's been ages since I cooked. Exhausted my dollars at food courts instead.
WTF was I doing as a GRA ?( not that I am into some ground breaking research as such...but still..) Listening to a bunch of confused undergrads in my team on what to do and what not to ? and taking orders from an equally disorganized boss ? How could she afford to forget the idea behind hiring so many undergrads ? Why was the 'rotation policy' discarded ? Time, money and man management sounded alien concepts. Unheard theories. Such were the work ethics that I was on the verge of quitting.
Which one's part-time? Work or study ? was ( and continues to be) another point to ponder. I was particularly dejected when my little knowledge on plants wasn't put to good use. I worked the whole summer, last; gained li'l info on do's and dont's while playing with Corn. A handy tip here and there, fell on deaf ears. I returned in oblivion. Unacknowledged.
I don't discount those innumerable favours... from my boss and team mates alike. But then, everything was undone by some thorough unprofessionalism and much more. Seriously damaging my attitude towards these people.
These things haven't gelled well with me. I have taken strong note of such kind of attitudes. Will save face from now. Americans deserve nothing. No over estimating. No understating either. They should be given a strong dose of their medicine. Hard mustered notion this one. So be it for the times to come until someone really changes it.
Am ready !

Waiting
Touch, so tender.
Love, unconditional.
Shoulder to unburden sorrows upon.
Pat, to rekindle spirits.
Waiting for one....
Pearl of wisdom.
Obstacle, to strengthen my character.
Opportunity, to rise to the occasion.
Occasion, to lead.
Situation, to be perseverant.
Performance to undo past failures.
Waiting for one....
Victory...a prized moment.
Conversation filled with knowledge
and dripping in intellectuality
Instance, to be all alone
and appreciate silence.
Clue, to realise and
Period, to rediscover myself.
Waiting for one....
Company to unwind in,
Friend to confide and
friendship, to define life.
Gesture to bridge differences
and dissolve enmity.
Joy, totally unalloyed.
Experience, which will be vivid.
Gift, a cherished possession.
Waiting for one....
Drop of tear to pour my heart out..
Chance, to confess...to my beloved.
Intimacy which cannot be re-lived.
Person who means everything.
Waiting for one....
Drop of rain to kiss the barren land.
Rainbow which will paint my life.
Cue of love from someone beautiful.
SMILE....which sets my heart fluttering.
Waiting....

Greetings :)
Well, if you were wondering what happened to my last post in hindi, for reasons unknown, I unpublished it. Posted it back (due to lack of quantity on my blog and all that ). Was attempting some shero- shayari and ditto like me, it has bombed !( I guess :D ). The attempt though, earned a comment. Nothing to be proud of !!
Have been playing NFS these days...at the drop of the hat. Someone ( wasn't it you KS, in one of our chats ? ) was praying that I lose to the comp. and go down crashing. No bahuaa.... I managed to be a 'Champ' on quite a no. of occasions !! Muhuhaha !!! B-)
On the work front, my romance with the Corn continues. It swears day and night to irk me all over. I am waiting for the harvesting time inturn, to chop it to death ! Some strange unsigned hatred brews towards each other. Its mutual. Apart from that, life's been all about fast paced narration, lacking crystal clear definition and form. Life in itself is a big word to address my petite grief stricken existence.
Wanted to write on Enemy, more on Columbia, a brief intro on Lawrence Pl., and few other things on those lines. Also about people who were corner stones in my life so far.
For now I will freeze them. Will unleash with vigour at a more opportune time.
Adios !
PS: Btw... Many Many Happy Returns of the Day....Pappa ! :D

A life ended abruptly. A member of family lost. A proof of someone's love for his beloved eliminated rather unceremoniously. A caterpillar was trampled and crushed to death ruthlessly under the boot, the day before at my work place- Genetics Farms (where I work with Maize, on a bio-informatics project) . A death sentence it deserved the least. That it dared to binge on a corn leaf was its only crime. A bloody dumb corn leaf, whose existence is insane.
We don't approve of researches which are built on the deaths of innocent creatures such as a caterpillar- a would be beautiful butterfly.
How could we forget a butterfly ? A symbol of freedom and brimming youthfulness. Adding colour to life and injecting freshness. All these expressions have been squashed. An existence undone and brought to nought.
There is this intense, unwarranted love for the corn and constant preaching on how it should be mothered with unprecedented care by my ( you know who !). Undeserving I say !! This obsession and passion for the corn...all at the stake of a caterpillar ?
The place ( addressed as the Genetics Farms on Old 63 South) is vast with budding greenery. Out of the 13,000 odd dumb corn families existing in our field, a mere leaf was a caterpillar’s lunch. In turn it fell prey to my boss' disagreement... triggering a change of attitude. Why this oddity ? If encountered, these caterpillars can be transported elsewhere. But no ! We - 'The Humans', tag these petite lives as insignificant and sentence them to death rather than help their existence. If our codes breached or territory legged, we have the authority and a license to kill.
What right do we have to stamp our authority and script somebody's fate ? I strongly question this approach and criticize such phase shifts in attitudes.
Sad that the well being of the corn was/ is being bartered for the death of a caterpillar ! :(

On Silence
I almost burst into laughter yesterday. My sis identified good logical thinking traits, a strong attitude, my improvised approach and maturity levels as some of my greens (with a sense of dis-belief though! (won't blame her for that)). Grays she couldn't identify many. Except that I am silent now. Silence...hmm.. !!
I was wondering all the while as to why silence was evaluated, mis-interpreted, publicised and tagged as my gray. As a matter of fact, it hurts me when Silence is mis-judged. It has been my sole confide for years now. Together we have walked the crests and troughs of my life( heh ! life ?? can you state one significant achievement to call it ..'life', dear Suddu ?). Silence has been my philosopher, guide, love, inspiration and a google to answers of my misery and pain. She has been a blessing in disguise, a friend in solitude, my partner in crime and my Saviour. Silence is a necessity in my life.Strange, how it brews in my veins and runs deep inside my arteries and fills the farthest of corners in me. Stranger the way it drives me. Silence my dear ! Means more than a void or period.
Silence. The nucleus of my thoughts and an anchor to my actions. She mothers me. Chastening at times and cuddling at other. I have been nurtured and nourished under her vigilance... as if I were born to her. Silence nestles me. She doctors my words and controls my instincts.
If existence is a compulsion, so be it. I will exist. When perishing is inevitable, so will I, but only in silence...

The inquisitive nature with which we try to decode a truth is not always gratifying; many a time we realise these truths, juxtapose with those doctored and appreciate the elegance therein. Unmasking a subtle expression.
This is a way perhaps, nature preserves and instills in us, this sense of appreciation. At some stage in their lives, our fathers and forefathers have realised this fact as well. Hence their twisted explanations or denials.
I have become much more wiser learning this, all by myself. Wisdom strikes like lightening indeed ! For the sake of this beauty, which destines to blossom in every heart, disclose won't I, these truths, to my progeny. So won't they.
Let the candle(?!?!) of beauty burn, let the legacy of appreciation continue.

Regrets, Apologies !!
On the flip side, I'm an epitome of silence. Sincere, fun loving, caring, truthful, a near perfectionist, optimist, a philanthropist and a theist. Also a die-hard romantic, lover of greenery and leader of a 'meaningful' life. Rationale thinking, poetic abilities, loyalism, idealism, apolitical view and intellectuality define me. Beat that ;)
Sad that we turned out identical. You and I. Apologies for robbing you off your identity, for the sake of mine. Sad that I have fallen prey to committing this heinous act of robbing others of their 'self'. Just like you ! Remember do you ? the ugly hour of the past ? I was only returning your favour. Never imagined I could stoop down to such levels. Never expected I will be game for all this. Regrets ! :(
Yet, there stand few qualities, which distinguish me from you and make me belong to a higher ilk. Sad ! those could not be tapped.
My apologies !!
Cheers, its April !
April truly symbolizes spring. A blooming and animated life with a blend of gentleness and composition. If winter which preceded was placid and unemotional, spring is a retro. As Gibran put it, 'In the heart of every winter there is a quivering spring'. True it is.
The Columbian springs are worth an experience. Sunny days, cool breeze kissing the brow, chirpy songs, action oriented squirrels, budding greenery, Columbian 'B'zz ( just struk me, B can mean so many .... :D ) all existing in tandem, bring instant joy. All this, worth the wait.
An eventful month too ! B-days ! ;) If you are an Arien, you deserve a special mention. I have decided to wish all, regardless of... my status of affiliations with them. Let there be happiness. This is truly a month to retreat and appreciate nature unfold in its beautiful colours. Cheers !!
PS: Dumbo, don't forget to wish me on my day. Be reminded of the consequences otherwise[:P]

Eat Cricket , Sleep Cricket ....
...and play what ? gilli-danda ? After days of speculation and hoopla surrounding it, India finally bow out of the 2007 WC tourney, unless Bermuda pull off a stunner against Bangladesh. The least spoken, the better ( why this postmortem then? ) Pakistan's knock-out from this ninth edition set a tone, so annoying. If Woolmer's murder was panicky, India's derogatory performance further aggravated the wounds. All this jolting World Cricket. After much hype on who-meets-who, with trade pundits, cricket buffs, ex-players, and fans awaiting an Indo-Pak clash midway, the former champs have come down crashing, as a bunch of chokers who never seemed to find the right nerve in making themselves count. While Pak's ouster can be accredited to their over-the-board commitments over the past many months -- leading to a serious burn out, India's was more of a self-inflicted one.
For starters, Bangladesh and Ireland have scripted two major upsets, in the process finding themselves on the same board with the big wigs. No half measures in estimating their capabilities. Even if they lose, which seems inevitable; their efforts will be appreciated and victories cherished back home. The 'big guys' acknowledge their potential.
Going a step further in analyzing our boys.. no excuse ! We are dumb struck back home. Team India is well aware of the Storm awaiting them. A Tornado in the offing. No one shall be spared, by media and public alike.
Selectors selectors... What was Sehwag doing in his gear ? Where did Powar lose his ground ? What was the 'Turbunator' upto ? Why is 'Jumbo' (aka Kumble) always under utilised ? Any explanations for omitting the names -- Kaif, Raina, R.P.Singh et al ? How will the BCCI plan a face off ?A serious trade-off not surviving the test of times, drained one and all of self-belief. Mr.Chappell cannot be blamed. If the boys failed, why is he held responsible? We pity his fate in the weeks to come.
Strangely this WC has ended some of the most illustrious careers. 'Inzy' would fast want to forget his abrupt exit. Sourav, Rahul, Kumble and Sachin will bid adieu to WC. The later wants to sneak into the next addition.( why?) Cricket has lost one of the most expedient coaches of all time- Bob Richard Woolmer.
All this, neither impressive nor memorable. But the game must go on. From the Super 8... 5 actually, whom can we bet on ? SL, SA, NZ and WI are at helm. Aussies stand out. Eng have their worries. Banglas & Irish -- still a flash in the pan...
Those who were responsible for the calamity will taste it bad hereon... one's on the benches won't mourn losing a berth. They will have the last laugh....
Calls for a new coach, captain and a refurbished Team India round the corner. Isn't it time for a make-over ?

I understand the reality that separation is the only way left...my love... our moments- so beautiful, and experiences- angelic, they remain imprinted in the sands of time and forever my cherished possessions. Your tender touch has moved me into a world of ecstasy. Few emotions cannot be controlled and before I get too serious, I hold myself. Though quite small, a sweet romantic love story ends here.
Strange! Love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation.

Dil चाहता है
Never mind, Dil Chahta Hai broke the jinx. Kudos to Farhan Akhtar for coming up with a commendable, fresh story line in a commercial frame. If Akhtar's presentation was sheer brilliance, S-E-L's music was revelation in its own, the tunes still fresh in everyone's memory. Farhan takes us back to the nostalgic 60's and 70's style of Indian film making, in one of his song sequences. Not a bad idea to use it as a backdrop for evoking some laughter.
Cinematography and lighting are two aspects which form the crux in film making. Sans a good lights-men and creative lens-men, a director's pulse is untapped and his idea only half baked. In this context, due credit must be given to these technicians for maintaining their balance throughout. Ability to film by cleverly avoiding the regular 'dishum- dishums' of Indian cinema, and sans some slapstick comedy topped with vulgarity needs some craftsmanship, an art, which the whole team of DCH has distinction-ed in .
Speaking of the trio, they simply excel. Saif's comic timing is something to die for, he is a find through this movie. Sometimes you need to be associated with the right script to extract the best out of you. Aamir as usual cake-walks, given his perfectionist ways and the 'I-care-a-damn' or his 'masti-hamesha' look in this 2001 flick. He can be excused of being repetitive as a romantic, for, he defines romanticism with a new flavour every season.

Akshaye as Sid plays his part with utmost serenity and sensitivity. As a recluse, cool headed painter trapped in his self-knit world of placidity and as a lover who retires to his heart into a self imposed exile, he portrays his part convincingly. His is a character drenched in timidity and painted in silence. More of an expression-defined. Sid's refusal to abide by social constraints for love is a point well emphasized and acted with equal subtlety and fervor. He is a friend par commitment and an absolute 'find', his people confide in. When Aamir's Aakash rubs over Akshaye's Sid, the latter doesn't mind being a part-time prankster. Afterall, his is a life defined by values of such expressions. Avid observing and deep thinking traits mark Sid's character. A lovable son he is. Carries within himself a dormant volcano which knows not its own instincts. He is mirthfully outrageous, at the same time a poet lost in the abyss of his own thoughts. Deep inside him lies an admiring and a concerned friend. All these aptly define Sid.. Sidharth Sinha of Dil Chahta Hai... a treat for any character analyst.
Other artists make their presence felt. Sonali is adequate, and Preity floors us with her innocence and effervescence. Kapadia fits well in the scheme for she brings in beauty with age factor in her Tara. Suhasini Mulay as Sid's mother is doting. I hate Ayub Khan as Rohit. He was meant to be hated all the while ;) ...
In these three men, the whole nation has identified and related to themselves at some stage or the other. I did too!! Have you ? ...

Idea ???
Wish there was a gadget with a Ctrl F system on it. Life would have been much more easier, faster and confusion-free. A li'l thought on how it works: if our's was more like the Terminator's vision system [ a built in zoom lens, LCD display, works by a remote etc..] we could have jumped closer to a solution, ideal. This idea requires some kind of interfacing -- what we actually want to find and this fancy gadget. Hmm..annoyed ?
A weird thought. But then, an idea worth appreciation than discarded. After all, 'An idea can change your life'... nah ? Will this ever see light ? If I succeed, undoubtedly Hutch gets the advertising rights :) :D ... [ heh ! over optimism or stupidity ? ] No hopes though ! For now, my fingers miss it badly. All they can is, mimic the Ctrl F actions, much the way they have been habituated to, on a keyboard.
PS :
Another possible soln to this struck me. I will spare the readers and un-burden them from another spell of such..... you know it [:p]

Trapped
The quench for knowledge ceases to exist. Exist only thoughts, stagnated, in the depths of a paralyzed mind. All that prevails is a life drenched in ignorance. If ignorance be bliss, then what's the complaint for ? and what's the crave for ?
Here I am, bonded by the chains of materialism. Greed is predominant, desires infinite, words amiss veracity, character dictated by sadistic impulses and marked with heavy schizoid-ism. All this, sinking me into a quagmire. Oh! Boy... do you hear me ? I am trapped... in my own shadows, in this self-knit silks of death. I cry out loud, sounds of which echo in the Four Walls. None but me hears them.. time and again. Is there a way out ? Is there a way out ?
There exists a hope... a drive to shed inhibitions, break the shackles and start anew.. a resurrection of sorts. Lets wait till morrow...
behind the veil of darkness is the shimmering face of dawn."

For a plate of Pani Puri
Age, caste, money, etc.. can debar you off luxuries; not for a plate of pani puri. Rich or poor, big or small, young or old, he or she... all crave for a plate of this fast food extravaganza.
you start off with : " bhayya ek plate..."
vendor hits back : "katlis nakko? "
Business tactic I say.. trying to tempt and lure you. Ahnnggg..!! you sway in a double mind-- hot katlis or pani puri ?
"katlis lo...garam banaroo"...
sheeeeshhh !! Deep inside you wanted to taste it, but a last minute stinginess holds you back, which he royally unearths you from. Finally you succumb and surrender. The fragrance has a strong hold on your senses. You could hardly resist. Greed precedes, taking center stage. You act on instinct.
"singal ya full? " is the question. Draws you into thinking.
"singal", is your call.
"katlis daloon ya samosa?"..
" katlis ich.."
" dhai daloon? ", ..... " hau thoda...jada nakko... thoda pyaas bhi ", you shoot back.
Now, turn for the coveted- gapchup aka Pani puri. He delayed the inevitable all this while. No more ! Ask any lover the pain he undergoes all this while. But worth a wait I say [:)]"gachchup dalo"...
" ek plate ko kitte derain?", you ask.
" do rupai ko paanch"...
" che daldo yaaron", is your bargain...
a blunt No! follows. You give up.
your greed for pani puri has reached its pinnacle. You hit it off.... gulp it into your mouth...close your eyes...relish the taste... mmmm.. !!!
Solace !! The fragrace of the still cooking katlis soothes your soul. You are still coming to terms with an indescribable ecstasy. The filling is simply inexplicable. Till your greed is quenched, you go on.
before you finish off, "do rupai ka mitha dalo"...
the grand finale....
"thoda pani dalo yaroon"... is your polite request...
Dipping his tanned hand into the pot and gyrating the pani, he delivers a small cup of it onto your plate....greed is not appreciable. He hates it.
"kitta hua ".... you ask
" katlis ka chaar, gachchup kaa chaar... poora aath.."
He is paid. Still reminiscing the exhilarating experience of having your fav -- pani puri, you sign off, on a high.

Every Little Thing
longs to sing,
Every little thing
desires a wing.
Every little thing
filled with a zing,
This little thing
wants to swing.
When Every little thing
claims to be a King,
poor little thing
falls with a ding !
My heart shaped thing
is a broken string,
Yes ! Every little thing
is a painful sting.

Complaint
An extra five bucks to upload more? 5 man !! 5 ! [:p] As if this were not sufficient, they would keep your pics for 30 days if you closed your fotolog, a rib tickling explaination being :
" Security Reasons ".... Pure non-sense I say !
I am not game for such things. Deleted it, and switched to our Blogger.Look at it B-) , sky is the limit. Atleast for now [:D]
Blogging : A New Lifeline
Here it is ! A reason to smile for people with penchant for writing, with no friends, desperados seeking a place to confide. well, not exactly, unless you make it a private affair;) for mightier pens( referred to as keyboard sometimes ) seeking space to pen down. So what if your zindagi is turning dull and insipid ? This is a good lifeline, a new way to refreshen.
Amazing, I call it. A place you can unleash your flirtatious ways, love, hatred, venting anger, views, arguments, messages( indirect pointings towards.....), your woes, political views, abstract thoughts, poetry, stammering ideas to start with.... Maintaining a personal diary is a passé. Though not all, including me, will jibe with that. The 'in-thing' is the Bloggie, at least for the internet savvy and a providential few.
Forget Yahoo ! It only adds to our confusion [atleast in my case :( ] Rediff : I never care( laud it for other reasons though ). If you have others to mention, sry no takers [-( , this place is only for Googl-e-rs. For now, I am completely in awe of it.
Ample templates to choose from. As if that were not sufficient, you can customise your blog : moderate comments, change ur postings, change the viewer options and if you go nuts, delete it all !! :D Easy isn't it ? Asking what's so gr8 abt it ? believe me, the controls are simply amazing. With its new features, get set for a spicy experience. Li'l bit of HTML coding can be handy. No! playful, actually to put it ;) if the dashboard is anything, its a feature to die for. Faking it :>, faking 'em all :>:> Not the end ! You can save some shabby works ( like this one :D ) and never publish it ( for reader's good ! unless you are merciless like me).... etcetera etcetera .....Not to forget the deceiving and foxing ad-sense : a pure non-sense which lures the user. As long as you are game for it, the essence for some pure fun is lost. After all, a blog is not the place to make money.
Sleeping, watching TV, sitting idle are worn out. Blogging is our new time-killer (ok ! your hobby in the making )tool. So whats the wait for? Log in, start blogging. No worries if your English is bad, your vocabulary outdated and grammar unhealthy, get started n get going.... words will find their way out. Did I speak about the feature to add your fav pics in here? Its something you will die for, once you start blogging :D
All in all, a great space for self ( forget others, this is absolutely your world )....get started... keep going !!!
:) :D :>

Introducing Mizzou
Following the First World War, a patriotic movement swept across college campuses nationwide to honor those students who had fought and died for liberty and freedom, and MU was no exception to this. In his 1919 commencement address, Dean Walter Miller called for the construction of a memorial to Missouri's deceased sons. His dream, and the dream of students and faculty, began to take shape under the Memorial Building Committee, a committee organized to raise funds and support for the construction of this memorial.First and foremost, the Memorial Union building would serve to honor MU's deceased sons, while at the same time it could serve as the long-awaited, permanent student center for student organizations and social activities. The first and most symbolic stage called for the construction of an English, Gothic-style, memorial, bell tower. The second phase called for the construction of the two wings extending north and south.
Construction of the first phase of the project began on November 30, 1922, when construction of the tower was laid. The Tower was subsequently completed and dedicated in November 1926. MU honored 117 men who lost their lives in the First World War by inscribing their names on the inside walls of the Tower arch. Tradition has it that during the time when most men wore hats, whenever they walked through the Tower arch, they would tip their hats as a sign of respect to their deceased brothers. Unknowingly to most, completion and dedication of the Tower in 1926 was the last major construction to occur on the Memorial Union building for the next 25 years. There were a few exceptions to this such as the construction of the foundation for the south wing in 1931 and the Tower bells and clock in 1936.
Completing the Memorial Union building would be a part of a larger dormitory dining and recreational building program with the north wing begun in June 1951 and completed over a year later in September 1952. Three hundred thirty-eight MU sons who lost their lives in World War Two joined their earlier brothers in history, as their names were inscribed on a large plaque and hung on the walls inside the foyer of the north wing. The final phase of the Memorial Union building would remain uncompleted for another 11 years. The south wing would remain in its incomplete state until 1963.
One other major development of the Union before 1963 was the construction of the A.P. Green Chapel in 1959, which adjoined the Memorial Union and later the south wing. Construction of the non-denominational chapel was made possible by an $85,000 financial gift from Allen P. and Josephine B. Green. Mr. Green was an alumnus of MU and had also served on the Governor's Board of Visitors for the University from1942 to1950. An additional $30,000 was allocated by the University Student Union Board to complete construction of the chapel. The chapel is open to any MU student for periods of religious worship and today is often used for marriage ceremonies.
Brady Commons was also completed in 1963. It was originally referred to as the Student Commons and was renamed Brady Commons in 1967. In 1985 a new wing was added to Brady Commons. This wing included the addition of what is now the Center for Student Involvement, TigerTech, the Brady Walkway, and the moving of the University Bookstore into its present location.
During the 1980's and early 90's Memorial Union fell into disuse. As a means to remedy the situation and review the purpose and function of both facilities of the Missouri Unions, the University initiated in 1992 a five year, $10,000,000 plan to renovate Memorial Union. Phase one began with the renovation of the south side second floor in 1994. That year also brought the conversion of meeting rooms on the south side ground floor into a 102-station, student-computing center.
The next major renovation for Memorial Union occurred in 1996 with the demolition of the first floor north. The grand opening of the north side in January of 1997 introduced students to a beautifully remodeled ballroom-style Stotler Lounge, a food court with healthier food options, a coffee bar, a large information area, and updated meeting room space. The renovation of Jesse Wrench Auditorium soon followed that spring. T.A. Brady's Games Room also underwent renovations in 1996 and opened its doors with a whole new look in February of 1997.
In 1994 a major renovation of Brady Food Court occurred and brought a wider variety of menu options to students. More recently, in the spring of 1998 the University Bookstore completed its expansion in Brady Commons, which added many new products and services for students.
The renovation of the administrative offices and meeting room on the first floor south were complete in the fall of 1998. The new space included better display areas and student lounge space.
1996 also brought the organization of a Conferences and Special Events area in the Unions and the reorganization of the Student Union Programming Board (SUPB). A programming board existed in the unions during the 1950's - 1970's, but was dissolved. With the revitalization of the facilities, SUPB was created and provides innovative educational, cultural and social programming to the campus community.
After nearly 100 years since MU students first expressed their desire for a student union, one finds Memorial Union and Brady Commons as the centers of student life. Memorial Union now recaptures its earlier glory and responsibilities, while Brady Commons continues to meet the needs of a growing student body.

The Columns
THE COLUMNS : SYMBOLIZING MIZZOU
The traditional symbol of the University of Missouri-Columbia is the row of six Ionic columns. The Columns once supported the portico of Academic Hall, the first building erected on campus. Academic Hall was built between 1840 and 1843 from plans drawn by A. Stephen Hills, designer of the Missouri State Capitol. It consisted of a domed central section of three stories with two wings and housed both educational and administrative facilities. Brick for the building was fired on campus. Limestone for the Columns was obtained from the nearby Hinkson Creek Valley and was hauled to the building by ox-drawn carts.
On Jan. 9, 1892, Academic Hall was destroyed by fire and the Columns were all that remained. In August 1893 the Board of Curators voted to remove the Columns, considering them not only unsafe but unsightly. However, supporters of the Columns rallied to their defense, and after inspection showed the foundations were safe, the Board voted to retain them in December 1893. Now the Columns stand as a beloved part of MU's campus.

The 'elite' few published my secrets, handed over the keys of my mysteries to the ogres of mankind. Look what we have now : A no more mysterious Su Dham( Christined by our Champlo ). He is more susceptible. More prone to be deceived. Has lost the art of interpreting and judging. Is no more strong willed, confident, authoritative nor a 'closed chapter'. His darkness exploited, depths shackled, vigour undone and faiths destroyed.

People, Oh ! Shameless people, you will never change. But so won't my attitude towards your crackbrained theories.
You have your ideology, I have mine !
